Recent incidents dramatically expand the scope of the breach impact.  Howard Anderson says massive breach incidents gaining headlines serve as powerful reminders that now's the time to redouble breach prevention efforts. The total number of Americans affected by major health information breaches since the HIPAA breach notification rule took effect could grow by more than 50 percent once two major recent incidents are added to the official federal tally.

IT by nature can be relatively confusing, expensive and it is indeed a fast passed and ever changing industry.  Hardware and software can sometimes become obsolete within months, not to mention years. And with the slashing of budgets many small businesses fall into disastrous snares like hiring inexperienced personnel to handle their IT. Sadly, it only takes one single mistake to lead to a catastrophic loss of company data, and starting over can be heartbreaking.

In a world where technological advances turn up everyday in news-feeds and broadcasts, the annual T3 Gadget Awards is a microcosm of all of these advances in one location.  Like the Oscars for Technology, the T3 Gadget Awards nominate the most cutting-edge gadgets out today. With past releases like the iPad 2, Microsoft’s Kinect and huge advances in gaming, it’s worth a quick note to show some of the most important revelations which have taken place in 2011.  Over 960,000 votes, together with the final tabulations of a 6 person expert panel, determined the winners.  Here are just a few of the more interesting revelations, as well as some interesting--if not ironic--choices for winners.
